Asus Zenfone 5 Review: High range Specs Priced at Mid range

Asus Zenfone 5 Full Discriptoin and Review

Asus has re-entered the smartphone market in India with their new Zenfone series announced at this year’s CES. The new series is available in four screen sizes – 4, 4.5, 5 and 6 inches. Today we’ll be taking a closer look at the Zenfone 5. With a starting price of just Rs 10,000 for the 8GB model.

Design and Build

The Zenfone 5, has a simple candy bar design, with more interchangeable back covers. The phone is built mostly of plastic while retaining a premium look and feel. The Zenfone is also quite sturdy and durable and will easily handle a few knocks and bumps along the way. The placement of ports and buttons are pretty ergonomic and have good tactile feedback.

Features

This phone houses a 5-inch IPS, HD display that’s also got a scratch resistant coating from Corning. The display is quite vivid and colours are fairly punchy. Viewing angles are pretty good as well. Asus also bundles an app which lets you adjust the colour temperature of the display to suite your needs.The phone features Android 4.3 and the refreshed Zen UI, which is a big departure from Asus’s previous skins.

 The new theme follows a flat look for all the icons, which seems to be the trend these days. There’s a bunch of useful apps thrown in as well from Asus like Share Link and Remote Link. The heavily skinned version of Android doesn’t slow down a bit however, which is highly commendable. The app called ‘What’s Next’ throws up lockscreen notifications on the weather or any upcoming calendar appointments you might have.

The Zenfone 5 is powered by an Intel Atom Z2560 SoC which consists of a dual-core Clover Trial+ CPU running at 1.6GHz. The phone also features 2GB of RAM. Together, the chipset delivers better performance than MediaTek’s MT6582 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 SoC.

Media

The Zenfone is available in 8GB and 16GB variants and both have expandable memory. The new look of the music player is very slick and easy to use. Audio is pretty loud as well through the loud speaker. The player lets you stream audio through DLNA as well and we have the standard EQ settings of Jelly Bean.

Connectivity

The Zenfone 5 supports dual-SIM functionality, 3G and 2G. We also get Wi-Fi ‘n’, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS and GLONASS. The phone comes with plenty of productivity apps like Tasks, Flashlight and an app called Omlet, which lets you share photos.

Camera

The 8MP camera sensor features an aperture value of f/2.2 and manages to capture good low-light-shots. The camera interface is completely overhauled but is still easy to get around. The quality of pictures is pretty good as well for a budget offering.

Battery life

The 2110mAh battery manages to deliver a day-long battery life and you can squeeze out even more with the power saving modes turned on. It came out of our 8-hour battery test with quite some juice to spare. This is a great advantage for the Zenfone 5.

Price in India

The Asus Zenfone 5 starts at Rs 12,999, although at the launch, Asus said you could find it for as low as Rs 10,000, for the 8GB model.  It’s really hard to fault the Zenfone 5 as it doesn’t really stumble much in any department.

Microsoft has listed a new smartphone in their official website known as Lumia 530. Microsoft promises to deliver the phone within four days. It is available in green, dark grey, white and orange.

The Lumia 530 dual-SIM 3G variant has been launched in India. Specifications of the smartphone include: 

1. A 4-inch FWVGA LCD display with  854 x 480 pixels resolution, 
2. A 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 and 512MB RAM, along with 4GB storage space with up to 128GB micro SD card support.
3. The battery has up to 22 days standby, and 13 hours of 2G talk time. The battery capacity is 1430mAh. 
4. Connectivity options include HSPA+ 21Mbps/5.76Mbps, Wi-Fi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0 and micro-USB.
5. It gets 5-megapixels rear snapper and no front camera. 

                     Also the 512 MB RAM is likely to seem too little for users, especially when budget Android phones are launching with 1GB RAM.

                    The Lumia 530 will run the latest version of Windows Phone 8.1 and comes with features such as the one-swipe notification from Action Center, and the fast Word Flow keyboard. Users will also get an additional 15 GB of free cloud storage on Microsoft OneDrive.

Behind the Movie: Popular youthful filmmaker Maruthi and rising hero Sumanth Ashwin’s combo is although abnormal, Nanditha’s presence is enough to keep the expectations high. Let us see, how debutant director Harinath exploited the brand of Maruthi here?

In the Movie: Siddu (Sumanth Ashwin) falls in love with a girl(Tejaswi). But she gets influenced by her friend Chitra’s(Nanditha) thoughts about male psychology and breaks up with Siddu. A few days later, Siddu falls in love with another girl(Chandini). Once again, Chandini breaks up with Siddu due to Chitra. After a few years, Siddu sees Chitra (Nandini) in a temple and falls for her. Once he realizes who Chitra is, he realizes it is next to impossible to make her fall for him. Here on, Sree Ram introduces a forged character of madman Siddharth (Sapthagiri) to win the love of Chithra. Did he succeed and if so how did Church Father (MS) help both of them to realize their real love for each other is rest.

Out of the Movie: Performance wise sumanth , and Nanditha played a decent job. But the screenplay part till interval point is interesting. But the writer didn’t come up with arresting screenplay in the second half, but opted for a ‘mad house’ comedy towards the end. Plus points are spicy dialogues and entertainment provided by Saptagiri and Sai Kumar Pampana.

Bottom Line of the Movie: Super hit for SAPTHAGIRI.

'SIKANDER' Review: Shades of a Don

Behind the Movie:     N.Lingusami, (famous with aawara) and Stylish Suriya. This combination  is much enough to bring a lots of expectations in audience. And the gorgeous Samantha is special attraction in the movie. Lets see, if it lives up to the expectations…   

In the Movie:    Krishna (Suriya) from Vizag comes to Mumbai and starts inquiring about his missing brother Raju (Again Suriya), a well-known and much-loved gangster in Mumbai. He along with his friend Chandu (Vidyut Jamwal) rule the underworld in a happy-go-lucky manner. But opposition comes in the form of a strict police commissioner. To counter him, Raju bhai kidnaps his daughter Jeeva (Samantha). One thing leads to another and within no time, Jeeva falls for the brash and macho Raju bhai. Even as their romance begins, Raju bhai and Chandu end up making enemies with Imran (Manoj Bajpai). Raju bhai goes missing and Chandu is killed. Will Krishna find his brother? Will Chandu’s death be avenged, forms the rest of the story.

Out of the Movie:  A look into past hits of Lingusamy evidentially proves that he believes less in story and more in narrating the simple story with a gripping screenplay. His trademark execution and class craftsman skill was sensed only in camera handling, location scouting and production standards. Rest, there was no Lingu mark. Shockingly, what made Suriya to believe in this beaten script with straight narration is still to be known? Instead of moving patrons emotionally for highly charged action episodes, they focused more on styling, visual brilliance and raising the budget. To earmark the positives, it’s the interval block to be rated as best portion in this three hour trauma. 

Overall, ‘Sikindar’ is an old pickled underworld mafia story with predictable treatment. Lingusamy and Suriya are worth of delivering better and far better movies than this one.

However Suriya's performance is unbeatable. and Samantha is also looking gorgeous in the movie. But screenplay is a bit lazy.

Bottom line of the Movie. For the Fans of SURIYA
